Has anybody installed racetrack trim on their truck that hasn’t had any. I have a custom with no trim and want to two tone it so it just looks better with the trim on. I don’t know if it’s hard doing all the measurements for the clips.
What trim do you want to install on your truck? My Bullnose truck has the beltline stainless trim that goes over the wheels. The front fender I got from a parts truck that had trim that runs along the top of the fender, door and bed. There's a hole in it that I have to weld up before painting the fender and valence. Do you want to use OE trim from a parts truck?
I would skip the trim and just go with a contrasting wide pin strip to separate the two colors. You are asking for rust if you drill holes and install the clips. The factory used a combination of screws and spot welded pins to the body.
With the contrasting silver or aluminum color pinstripe to seperate the two tone you could also add the chrome pieces that go in the wheel wells. They screw into the body inside the wheel well. A bit easier to do without creating rust holes in the body sides.
There is nothing wrong with just having the line of the 2 colors and no molding or even a pin stripe.
Flare sides that were painted 2 colors used wide stripes from the factory, you can no longer get them.
I was going to use wide pin stripe but could not find a color that I liked so I have not used anything and people think it is the want the factory did it.

Totally agree on going with no stripes at the paint break line, especially if the break is on a body contour line.
I am in process of a victorian two tone on my bullnose Bronco and am contemplating using one of these 5/8 or 3/4 " stripes: https://www.stripeman.com/paint-break-stripe-rolls/
Unfortunately they don't look to be a 3m product but Phoenix Graphics does seems to offer up 3m stripes for some Fords

If used in a straight line like the top body line on my truck, then I say go for it.
But being 5/8 or 3/4 wide and need to go around curves like the wheel opening I dont know how well it will work?
Any of the factory stripes were made in the wheel opening pattern not straight.

Thanks not too bad for a garage body work and paint job
To tell the truth I know how to do both but hate doing it and why I never did it for a living.
If you are painting the whole truck, I dont know if a shop or you?
You can do the paint parting lines in a painted stripe pattern.
In my case I was looking to add a 1/8" white painted pin stripe 1/8' in the red and do a red pin stripe the same in the white.
By the time I got to putting paint on the truck it had been almost 4 years since I started work and just wanted it done.
Just something to think about as there are many different ways to go with it.

That is my concern to. Maybe running multiple individual stripes would work better .
Yes I’m painting the truck, I just paint in sections ( cab and then doors and so on) the reason I was asking about the trim is there’s a set of west coast fenders on marketplace by me that I need, and they have the trim on them. I think I’m going to get them tomorrow. I’ll just have to weld the trim holes up. Thanks again everyone for responding.
