I dented my shortbed so I am considering using another bed I've found but it is missing the trim with the rubber insert(xlt style?). I am wondering if there is a kit to use since the other bed does not have the factory studs that hold the plastic trim clips. Any suggestions appreciated. (Obviously, I already have the trim and clips.)
Thanks Paul
I was just at the wrecking yard. I guess I was overcomplicating an easy problem. Forgot what they look like. 2 nice dual tank longbeds in the yard as well.
Thanks Guys.
While on the subject whats the best way to get the trim off? I'm going to have my truck painted and have looke at the trim a bit suspecting it slides off but it doesn't seem to move very easily
Jearl,
On one side of the box, the trim slid and popped off easily. The side I dented is on tight. I'm not taking it off til I've decided on the box replacement and have acquired it. The trim needs to slide towards the rear first because there is a small clip that holds the very end of the trim. It has to clear the small clip because it is different then the others. The other clips appered to be a snap on/over style. Now I'm only speaking from the knowledge of removing and replacing one section on a shortbed side. And I'm not possitive it was stock to begin with.
