I've inherited my Papa's 1990 xlt lariat and I'm starting to restore it and I'm trying to find a few items before I buy new.
I'm looking for I believe 1 15x8 5x5.5 stock 8 hole rally wheel like the one pictured, I'm just missing one of a whole set I'm also trying to find the bead cover or rim protector?, I'm also looking for a driver side door mirror.
When you say "the" do you mean all of them? Have you bought one new? I have a 1991 F150 that came with 15x7s and my 1990 4x4 F150 did too. Both trucks were bought new. I have bought and sold several sets of these wheels over the years, and in my experience, the 15x7s are more plentiful.
It was my understanding you only got 15x8 if you bought the optional 31x10.50R15 tires. Think about it - 15x8 is too wide for the stock 235/75R15 tires.
Yes. Both trucks. By “all of them” do you mean all eight wheels on both vehicles? The Bronco was purchased used back in ‘95 and the ‘89 was over ten years ago but had sat in someone’s driveway for another nine years. I’m 100% sure they are the original wheels.
No, I meant ALL 1987 Broncos and ALL 1989 F150s. I still say Ford would not be putting 8" wide wheels on a truck that had 235/75R15 tires on it from the factory.
I bought both of my trucks new so I can testify as to what they had when they came from Ford.
I don't think there were any factory 15x8 wheels. All the aftermarket American Racing, Eagle Alloy, Mickey Thompson etc 15x8 wheels were wider than any stock Ford wheel I ever saw. As I recall the door jamb sticker on all three 92-96 F150s I have had said 15x7.5 wheels. That was the Alcoas and the chrome blade style though. The sales brochure mentions the 235 75 and 265 75 (31s) but not the actual wheel size.
