I put a 1995 motor in my 1976 ford f150. Motors are the same, 302 5.0 but having a hard time with finding the right distributor. The 95’ motor is an EFI where the truck itself is a carburetor. The 1995 distributor does not have the right ignition plug for the ignition of the 76, the pick up seems to be different and the length of the oil pump rod seems to be longer.
I’ve also read that I’m going to have to convert the carburetor and it’s pretty pricey to convert away from EFI.
Just put your old Dura Spark distributor in the new motor
Swap the oil pump drives if necessary.
Verify the gear (needs to be steel with a roller cam and not cast iron like all the older ones)
You can use a carb. Or you can program an aftermarket efi. Cheapest is microsquirt. Since the motor is batch fire. You get 2 channels for fuel injectors. And it's E85 capable. So you can add the Delphi sensor. But you have to wire the whole setup. And custom it in. Carb just bolts on goes. Fitech vs Holley Sniper go Holley. So efi is possible. Just need to wire some sensors and power. And route a harness and built your injector harness. And find the injectors you want to run. Not too crazy.

We have cone back to this project and tired to put the 76 distributor in the 95 motor. It looks like it will fit but the oil pump rods seem to be different lengths. Do I need to put the 76 oil pump rod in the 95 motor?
You will need to compare the distributors and their shafts
I hear tell that the shaft lengths are different EFI motors to carb motors
