starting my motor build
ok my uncle had this 302 sitting in the back of his gauge so i went and picked it up . i am building it for my truck . now my truck is a 87 302 efi the motor i got is out of an 84 so its carb . so the intake and heads mean nothing to me . when i took the oil pan off i found this rod down inside it and was wondering if someone can tell me what it is

thanks for the info . i will have to remember that on the next one . after further inspection some how it got a huge hole in the top end of the block in the front in the back side where the distributor goes down threw . so it looks like a trip to the scrap yard for me

No that's normal every block has a hole there.
