Distributor help!

I put a 1995 motor in my 1976 ford f150. Motors are the same, 302 5.0 but having a hard time with finding the right distributor. The 95’ motor is an EFI where the truck itself is a carburetor. The 1995 distributor does not have the right ignition plug for the ignition of the 76, the pick up seems to be different and the length of the oil pump rod seems to be longer. Anyone have any suggestions or solutions?

Is your 95 engine a roller cam? If it is you will need a steel gear on your 76 distributor. Someone else will have to comment on the shaft length. The 95 ignition is incompatible with the 76 truck.

the 95’ is not a roller cam. It is a push rod. Can we not use the 76’ distributor on the 95’ motor? Sorry if the questions sound dumb, just at a complete loss/stop on this part of the rebuild.

Measure down to top of shaft. See how far it will go into 76 distributor. Look into the 95 distributor. I went through this on a 84 engine. If I remember the extra length may not have a hex in it and just used for assembly purposes. 84 was 40 years ago.

I have no idea why that shaft is that long on that 95. Mine is much shorter. The 95 distributor is controlled by the computer and won't work without some serious rewiring. Make sure the shaft diameter is the same, then swap the new gear on the old distributor and you'll be fine

EDIT: I see this is from November and you're probably already driving the truck by now
