Replace/Customize Instrument Cluster
Two years ago I bought a 2005 F250 Super Duty. She's big and rusty, but she does what I need her to. I paid for her in cash and have replaced the engine in her (twice!), so I figure I'd replace some old parts and really customize her.
Since I bought her she's had a problem with the instrument cluster turning off intermittently. When this happens, the power windows and radio ALSO turn off, but turn signals and headlights still work. Rather than going in and only trying to fix the wiring, I figure I'd just replace the IC since the shifting indication doesn't work either, and hopefully the mechanic that replaces it will be able to tackle the wiring issue while we're at it.
Since I'm all about customization I would LOVE to update the IC with some digitized dials and indicators like they have in new cars and trucks. Even just replacing where the idiot lights are in the middle with an LCD screen so I can get more accurate readings. I just have no idea where to start with something like that. Any suggestions on where to look?
