CAN SOMEONE HELP PLEASE. I CHANGED THE TRANS FLUID AND FILTER, AT THE SAME TIME I DRAINED THER CONVERTER. AFTER I REFILLED THE PAN AND CONVERTER EVERYTHING SEEMED FINE SHIFTING WISE BUT THEN I NOTICED I WAS IN LIMP MODE WHEN I NEVER SHIFTED PAST SECOND GEAR. I CHECKED THE LEVEL, IT'S FINE TRIED TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERIES FOR ABOUT AN HOUR TO LET THE COMPUTER RESET AND THAT WAS NO GOOD. ANY HELP AT THIS POINT WOULD BE NICE HEAR RIGHT ABOUT NOW. THANKS
Hmmm, check the dipstick for excessive foaming. Some bubbles are normal but if the stick has a lot, especially if they go way up the stick then I would suspect you didn't properly install the filter and are sucking air into the system.
All this assumes your tranny was working fine before.
You might also have accidentally disconnected one of the electronic devices inside when you opened it up.
While you had the pan you should check any visible bolt for looseness and snug it back up, be gentle, aluminum strips easy.
You might recheck fluid level again and be sure to follow the manual procedure exactly. A grossly incorrect fluid level might cause things to go wrong. The TC takes a lot of fluid and it may take awhile to get all the air out of the system.
If it was my guess, I would say filter is sucking air.

I should of mentioned that the truck is a 2000 f350 with 7.3PSD, it had no problems but a refreshing was in order. There is no foaming, that I did check for on the stick, the fill level I intentionally went just at the high mark on the stick. It's not showing me any leaks at the pan before or after the service. I visually checked externally at the trans for electrical connections and all seems fine. I have no idea what else to check for, and thanks for some ideas Jim I appreciate it.
