Is this a bob jones truck?

www.americandreamcars.com/1956fordf100080503.htm

High light from www.a to the end and copy paste! I hate this stupid linking crap.
I was browsing through some websites when I came across this truck. I'm pretty sure it is or based on a bob jones special. Does anybody have more info on these trucks? -4speed

The bob jones specials were built at a Denver Colorado dealership when they were new. Bob Jones Skyliner Ford dealership is the name.
They yanked out the engines and installed hopped up 312's had a local shop do custom interrior, trucks were then sent to receice a custom luver job, dropped axles were also installed. Some came with the fender skirts like the ones I sometimes have on my truck.
I lived in denver in the late 80's and have spoken to a man who owned several of the BJS built fords.
For more info on this subject there is an article in the Dec. 1956 hot rod mag. on the BJS built fords.

Other than perhaps yourself (since you referenced it) the only person in this entire forum old enough to even possibly have that issue is Penn Dick......The kid sure wouldn't. Heck, his father probably isn't old enough to have it....

I don't think kevin was old enough in 56 to be really into hot rods. From when I met him, he looks late 30's early 40's. My dad being 62(honest) doesn't have the issue since well, he wasn't into cars in 1956. I do infact subscribe to hotrod. Knowing kevin, he probably has 2 copies of that 56 hotrod mag! -4speed

I'm just a 35 year old kid myself who has been involved with the 53-56 fords since I was 13years old. Thats when I bought my first 53 f100.

4Speed you found the correct issue. Its all inside!

Hmmm, I have that issue and also others back to '53. Does that make me a dinosaur?
Behave or I'll start listing all the "llitle" mags I have going back just as far. I had to do something with my newspaper route money.
Funny thing, I moved all over the US and the world for abot 30 years, my parents saved all thoise books for me.

BTW, that old guy on the cover of that HRM was one of my favorites, William Bendix. "What a revolting development this is"

Well, this clears up a question I have had for a while. One of you guys sign off using "BobJonesSpecial" and I was wondering what this meant seeing as this is my name. Now mystery solved. Too bad they weren't made in '48-50, the years I am more drawn to. I would sure have to have one or build one.
