I'm not convinced LED provides as much extra light as many believe. Certainly it is whiter and that has its appeal. But I aim our 2023 Audi with LED lights down our totally dark township road and then do the same with our 2021 F350 (with Sylvania silverstar ultra) and the illumination distance is nearly identical. The Audi casts a whiter light but does not provide ADDITIONAL illumination. The whiter light may cause an ILLUSION of additional light IMO.
they provide better foreground lighting. which is great except it actually ruins your nightvision. also they glare so the road signs light up, which makes you think theyre brighter. If people looked at the data and not just some pictures they took facing the headlight, theyd realize this.
not to say the OEM halogens are good lights lol. they are absolute trash.
Has anyone tried Phillips Nightguide Platinum bulbs instead of the factory bulbs, supposedly 130% brighter. At about $15 each they are a lot cheaper than LEDs. I am thinking of replacing my stock bulbs with these.
All of those higher output halogen bulbs have a short lifespan. I would only use them in the two top headlights. I wouldn’t put them in the bottom headlights because of their short lifespan and are hard to change.

Vehicles that come from the factory with LEDs have projector lenses specifically tuned for them. Throwing LED bulbs into a housing designed for halogens is not even close.
My 2016 Explorer Sport, mom's 2018 Explorer Limited have factory LED low beams that are not projector lenses.
People also say all vehicles with HID lights all have projector lenses, which is not correct either. My old 2005 Mercury Montego had factory HID low beams with reflectors.

And I’m sure there were many hundreds of hours spent designing the housings to perform properly with LED bulbs too…
