If you think four halogen headlights on a tall pickup are dim, maybe you shouldn’t be driving at night.
Im still running the stock halogens in my 13 f150 and 16 f150, my 22 f350 with its original halogens was far far worse than either of the other two trucks.
dude the video preview alone shows the massive glare lmao. if you need better lights, add auxiliary lights on a separate switch.
It isn’t until I lower the camera down directly in front of the lights do you see glare and even then it flares out horizontally and not vertically thus proving it is the right beam pattern. Lmao.
The reflector's built into the housing is the problem, can't adjust them
On the rear tail lights use Red Bulbs not white, won't look to have orange tint.
Poncho450 has done the most trial & error on the Halogen to led Lights, I followed his trials since back in 2017 when most everyone was switching Bulbs. My 2023 F-350 Xl Dually has Halogen and they suck, I would follow his led if I was looking
.....Went with amber fogs and glad I did. Only test drove them tonight and think they will be a vast improvement ...

I have been preaching the "gospel of amber LED fogs" on FTE for quite some time. A few of my disciples are here. The wave length of the DOT approved amber color works so much better when you need it and I think the 4000 lumens (per set) output is better than the OEM halogen fogs. I replaced my the first week I had the truck.

It's a crap shoot on headlights for sure. On the fogs, the LED again do "funny things" when installed in the halogen bulb lamp. But the funny things work to your advantage, as least in my case. While still getting a good cut off to not annoy oncoming drivers there is much more light pushed out to the sides, into the ditches, brush and grass where the deer and other silly beasts await you. My amber LED fogs have prevented two deer strikes thus far. Their performance is such I have decided not to replace the headlights for now, I'll wait for a bulb to burn out and see where LEDs are technically then, as they seem to be improving over time.
I'm not convinced LED provides as much extra light as many believe. Certainly it is whiter and that has its appeal. But I aim our 2023 Audi with LED lights down our totally dark township road and then do the same with our 2021 F350 (with Sylvania silverstar ultra) and the illumination distance is nearly identical. The Audi casts a whiter light but does not provide ADDITIONAL illumination. The whiter light may cause an ILLUSION of additional light IMO.

Apples to apples I have halogen and led super duties. I’m not picking the halogens over the LEDs bottom line.
they’re a better light at the end of the day when I want to see well. Much nicer down dark roads. Whether it’s illusions or whatever it is what it is they provide more usable light when comparing the two and I understand why people want to swap….but if not done properly it sucks for oncoming drivers.
also I’m not sure what Audi you have but my buddy has a 2023 sq7 and I’m not sure the halogens in a super duty quite compare.
Has anyone tried Phillips Nightguide Platinum bulbs instead of the factory bulbs, supposedly 130% brighter. At about $15 each they are a lot cheaper than LEDs. I am thinking of replacing my stock bulbs with these.

Looking at THIS makes me think that the color makes a difference in how you perceive it. I have seen many bulbs that are say rated at 10W with an incandescent cross reference so you know if you are actually getting more lumens or not. IF the incandescent is rated at 60W and your LED is rated at say 9W, wouldn't it be the same lumens with a different color?

Oh, much better! tell that to oncoming traffic who sits below the cutoff line

So all the cars that come with LED lights from the factory will have the same complaint according to your logic. Look, if people want to believe things will always be the way they have always been, I can't help them. You can see numerous videos on YouTube and see the clean cutoff just like the factory lights had. I have been running KC Hilites LED lights on my Jeep for years now with nobody flashing me. Time and technology marches on. Some of us understand that, most don't.

These trucks sit pretty high up. There always going to be somebody not in the optimum approach zone and isn't going to like the oncoming lights, factory or not. Especially with all 4 lights always on.
Even sitting in one of these trucks I run into cars with factory LEDs that are a little brighter than I'm comfortable with. I just live with it and write it off as today's technology. Can't change it anyway.

Vehicles that come from the factory with LEDs have projector lenses specifically tuned for them. Throwing LED bulbs into a housing designed for halogens is not even close.

says the guy running LED bulbs in halogen reflectors.....if you actually understood the tech you would pull the headlights apart and install a proper projector with an LED. But you dont have the ability so you do the cheap lazy method.
