So I got my 1995 4.9l back from the engine builder yesterday. It originally had the Mazda 5 speed trans. The engine is going into my 67 f100 with the original np435. The question is what clutch do I order the 95 or 67? I have the flywheel and a new starter for the 95. Thanks, Joe.
66
Not sure about the clutch BUT just want to remind you to be sure to put some LOC TITE or thread sealer or Something on the flywheel bolts as if not there is a chance oil will leak around threads and onto the PP and that is that......
The way I see it you are using the bell housing for the NP435 and think it uses a different fork and TO bearing.
With that said I would go with the 67 kit.
Now you may want to check the flywheel as some were drilled for both 10" and 11" go for the 11" if you can.
If they only list a 10 for the 6 look at a v8 disc for the same year truck and trans.

Thanks Dave. I think I might get the clutch kit for the 95 then use the throw out bearing, fork, linkage, ect. from the 67. Or I may just order both kits. This is all new to me.
X2 on checking your flywheel. I rebuilt a '93 engine to put in my '66. When I got the parts, I got a '66 clutch kit, for the builder, to balance it all. The '66 kit was an 11" and the '93 flywheel only took the smaller clutch.
Let us know how you made out and what parts worked for you as it may help others.
I do have a question on why the NP435 over the M5OD transmission?
Is the truck going to be used to pull heavy loads and not much high way driving?
I ask because the M5OD has over drive, good for high way driving and told little eayser shifting, but dose not have the granny gear for heavy loads.

The reason for the NP435 over the M50D is it wasn't available when I bought the 4.9l. I have the NP so that's what I'm going with for now. Long term plan is swapping in an AOD, But I have other upgrades first starting with the brakes.
I hear you on using what you got.
My truck came with a T18 that was shot. I found a used NP435 as I wanted to keep the granny gear as the truck has a 300 six and built as a back up to pull my open deck car trailer and with a 2.75 rear gear it needs the granny gear.
Dont be a hater but when I installed the NP435 I also installed one of the last Advance Adapter Range Splitter over drive.
Turned the 4sp into a 8sp trans but some of the ratios are so close it is not worth splitting unless loaded. I pulled our car club's trailer and the splitting was great.
Only bolt on over drive you can get now is Gear Vender's over drive.
