Destroyed clutch question
When a clutch goes, which side usually is the culprit? Flywheel side or trans side? Most of the ones that I have seen have been the flywheel side. My buddy just picked a truck up that the clutch blew and the previous owner had the trans and stuff out of it when he bought it so he doesn't have a good idea what happened.

the clutch usually goes from normal wear. My rule of thumb is to replace them every 80k miles. If the truck isn't that old then it might be from the previous driver not knowing what the heck he was doing and burning it up. The tranny or engine usually don't cause the clutch to go (hey anything's possible), it's meant to wear over the course of the vehicle's life. Hope this helps.
