Question regarding air intake compatibility

1984 F150 With a carbureted 302

I recently picked up an intake, valve covers, and an oil pan on Facebook Marketplace for $20. Correct if I'm wrong but these seem like they are off of a mustang from the same years. Bare with me as I'm very new to these trucks from this generation. I'm just wondering if anybody knows how compatible these are for my truck. I'm mostly interested in the intake as I just picked up an Edelbrock 4 barrel 1406 600cfm carb on marketplace for $140.

I plan to sandblast the intake and possibly repaint it. But before I do this work I'm wondering how compatible these are with my truck.. Will I still need an adapter/spacer? Also am I missing anything that I may come across if it is compatible? Did I overpay for these items? The edelbrock carb has four barrels where two of them are larger in diameter than the other two. I sat with the seller of the carb for a good 45 min in his garage as he showed me photos of the rebuild process he did to it. I inspected the parts and I did not find any damages besides the rust and debris. Either way if any of this is not compatible I am not at a loss of $160.

The intake looks like a stock Ford 302. See if you can get those numbers off of it. If your carb is a spread bore (big butterflies in the back, little ones in the front), then yes you will need an adapter. Very common item. It's called a spreadbore, to squarebore adapter. It can be flipped either way, the GM guys usually use the opposite way you are going to use it.

I can't tell about the oil pan, but it looks suspiciously like a front sump pan. If it is, it will not fit the 1980-up trucks.

also yes my carb has the big bores in the back smalls in the front setup. Sorry I'm currently at work and don't have access to the intake as of right now.

Oh, you can call Summit or Jeg's and talk with support to get info. Most performance parts companies, have good customer service for advice. Support those that support racing. Buy your parts from a trusted company, not ebay or some place on line that sells junk Chinese parts.

I'm definitely young only 31 years old. I am diesel technician but I've only been working as one for 3 years so I'm very new and don't know everything. I'm definitely curious and mostly interested in picking at the more experienced brains when it comes to these older setups. If there is something I know very minimal about is cars and trucks diesel or gas pre 1990s.

So you have some knowledge and ability. You'll do fine with making more HP on your toy.

Next question, what are your goals/plans for the truck ? Towing, or just something with a little more performance, or a high HP beast ?

Most people go with an aluminum intake manifold for performance upgrades. There's a show on MotorTrend TV called "Engine Masters" They have done a lot of testing of different set-ups. You may get some ideas from there.

Currently it's bone stock and I've been using it to haul things which helps my family out. I think eventually I want it to have more performance and power as I'm towing and hauling things. My house doesn't have a garage and I live in the arctic Alaska so I will be working on this outside and will take a span of 3 years minimum. I'm definitely just experimenting with what I'm reading and learning about but if I had a garage I would pull this engine out and out gt40 heads, smog pump delete, I have an AC compressor that works well but I may just yank that out too, fuel pressure reg, external transmission cooler, upgraded fuel pump, and if I really had the means I would bore it and put all new pistons. I would like for it to stay a workhorse but have some performance upgrades. Not sure what it will lead to as of now.

I would make sure the tune up is good and the battery terminals and cables are in great shape before it's get's much colder where you live. You need it to be reliable for Winter. I'll assume you have made sure the battery is good and oil and filter have been changed. Coolant level is good, and truck is running well ?

Hopefully that will give you the Winter to make a plan, write down what you think you want for the truck. Have a complete plan with prices in place for the Spring time.

I think your engine has a mechanical fuel pump on the timing chain cover ?

Another ask, can you "edit your signature" so we know what truck and engine, etc. you have so when members reply, they know what you got. Notice us regulars have that. You can do that from the menu down arrow next to your screen name on the upper corner on the blue bar.
