I’m having to replace the wheel hub for my 1983 Ford F150 4x4. I’m pretty sure it has the Dana 44 if that helps. While trying to take the manual locking hub body out I can’t seem to find what’s holding it in. I removed the 3 lock rings internal one between the wheel hub and body one on the axle and another from in between those two but I still can’t seem to remove the inner pieces. I’ve attached pictures to the of the rings I removed and a visual looking in. If any other information is need please let me know and I’ll add it.
Put a couple of the screws back in the threaded holes to use as handles, and wiggle it around and turn the rotor a little bit while you pull on the bolts.
P.S. It doesn't look too good down in there. You may have the same problem I did when I first bought my 1980 f150. I got it for a song because the 4x4 didn't work. I found my hub tore all to pieces. What happened, someone had it apart before and didn't put the bearing spanner nuts back in properly. They backed out and when they did they ate up the soft hub, ruining it and making it not work right. Put it back together correctly and bought new hubs, everything was ok after that.
