Yeah, remember them from the 70's...... they really were not that good, tuning was an issue with them and some guys had drivability issues with them.

Speaking of POS carbs, (hijacking thread), I was recently checking the manifold vacuum on the base port of my Holley 600 CFM vacuum secondary carb, and found liquid gas in that port. I something is leaking fuel into that area of the carb, but what could be the most likely source? I'm sure the last time I serviced it, I replaced all its gaskets with new.

The port in the front passenger side of the base plate of the carburetor that leads to the inlet of the intake manifold. I usually connect my vacuum gauge to it to measure manifold vacuum. See this pic:

Just below the front fuel bowl is a short vacuum hose plugged with a screw. That hose is connected to the port (nipple) that I'm referring to.

Beats me, that goes straight into the throttle bore. Try looking down into the carb while the engine is running to see if there's liquid gas dripping from the venturis.

That port in the base plate goes to the area just above the manifold, as I said before. That was what I found when I had it off before. The other nipple further up is the throttle port, which I connect to the distributor vacuum advance. I guess I can just pull the carb and check it again, but since that involves spillage of gas, I want to make sure what to look for before I do it.
