It probably is. In another thread I converted from the dual alternator setup to the single. My ‘05 had the snow plow kit installed and as such the dual alternator. That setup requires a modified CAC tube with a squished mid-section. I always wondered if that squished CAC tube impeded performance. My SD is a manual trans., so every time the clutch goes in boost crashes and the turbo lags until rpm builds again.
It might be me wishing for improvement, but since switching to the standard CAC tube, I swear the boost pressure stays higher between shifts, and the turbo lag is almost nonexistent now. What do you all think? I have nothing but anecdotal evidence.
Good lord! That’s unreal that the CAC tube is that squished…I’m guessing at least some of what you’re feeling is legit just based on looking at that old tube! 😳
I don't think it makes a noticeable difference in performance since the tube is oval but the cross section should be the same. The engines with additional hydraulic pump also have these modified pipes.
Maybe you had a small leak on the hot side hoses before the replacement?
