Picked up a set of western style side view mirrors off of a a big dump truck. There not stainless steel but they should do after sandblasting, painting and new stainless steel hardware they should work.
here is a picture of what i am working with. After looking these guys over i think i may be able to replicate them with stainless steel tubing.
Nice looking big truck mirrors. Did you get the T bolts to use along the top of the door? Or getting new ones?
You know i forgot to ask. do you by chance know where i can get a set of t bolts? i don't even know what a tbolt looks like. pretty sure i have never encountered a tbolt in my travels.
The T bolts (# 17386) are normally used on the top row to attach the type 2, 3 &11 Western Jr (swing lock) and (none swing) High Profile mirrors, to the top part of the door. Not sure about the type of hdwr the type 12 mirrors use. But I would think the same would be needed.
Got the twins to the shop. Soaking them in blaster overnight and wire brush tomorrow. Not sure if the frames are FoMoCo product or after market.
Was happy to see that the frames have bushings on the outside loop. Making it somewhat foldable.
I will get them cleaned up and make a list of stainless steel replacement hardware. Might check the price of some ss tubing.
Some hardware may not be worth saving. Another view. This mirror hardware looks galvanized (mirror main post) At least i will know the size of what's needed. Some hardware a bit buggy. Two different mirror heads on this set. 3 ribbed and this one triangle shaped front. Yikes.
