October's Rocktober Chat and BSSSSing thread.
October was originally the eighth month of the Roman calendar. It comes from the Latin word "octo" meaning eight. Later, it became the 10th month when January and February were added to the Calendar.

Amazing work Alan. You are light years beyond my skillset.
The KWS concert was awesome Thursday evening. I would have liked another 30 minutes or so. He played for about 90 minutes including the 3 encore songs.
Friday we were in Columbia for Sarah's cross country meet. She had a terrible day. Probably the worst we have seen her run. There were 14 girls in her race that didn't finish. Quite a few athletes collapsed during the race, it was pretty hot out. We saw one girl they had submerged up to her neck in an ice water tub. Also Friday our son and his wife closed on their first house. It is in Centertown. I don't know if I have mentioned it to you all, they are expecting a son in March. He will be a 5th generation Sam Kirby.
Today I took our Honda Accord to the dealership to get an oil change. They suggested a transmission service which I declined. Well, they did it anyway so I got the service for free. I need to just do that maintenance myself, I've taken it to the dealership because it is a new car still under warranty. They wanted $45 to change the cabin air filter. I got one for $12 and it is very easy to get to.
Then had to help my son move a few things. They have the rental until the end of October, so they have plenty of time to move, but they are moving along fine. They will be painting tomorrow.
I will be cooking all day for Sarah to take food back to school and feed the other kids for a family meal Sunday evening.
It's getting very close to travel day. I will be leaving Wednesday morning. I will make a travel thread in the 48-56 forum and link it here. The travel won't be as exciting because I'm going to leave Wednesday and try to get there Thursday evening, so there won't be a lot of stopping to sightsee. That will give me an extra day of driving around rural Pennsylvania.
Alan as always amazing job.
Joe travel safe and wear your FTE T shirt please at the show please. Lol
went to a cruise in yesterday evening in our '66, while driving there we were stopped at a traffic light. A couple guys pulled up next to us and were motioning for me to roll my window down. They hollered "what year is that beautiful thing?"
I pointed to my wife and said, "her? she is a '57"....
they got good laugh out of that. Then of course I told them the year of our pickup.
This is a pretty cool rig

And yes that is a boat on top of the camper. Both are pretty small. The camper only has a small bed in it. The back of the camper opens up, kinda like a teardrop camper, and has come cabinets in it.
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
We have some nieces here this week with their kids, so we're going to visit them today. One lives in Idaho and the other in Hawaii, so we don't get to see them much. The one that lives in Hawaii just had a baby girl. This will be the first time we meet her.
I'm gonna try to squeeze in some time on the crew cab today and push a little further on it. I have six days left to make it look like a truck again.
Looks like fun Crazywheels! Thanks for the pictures.
Alan, enjoy company, there's always work to do.

Roof guy came out bright and early this morning. Shingles, gutters and some siding damage.
So I guess I'll have to file a claim with the insurance on the house now.Gonna paint the white on the inside of the 60's cab today. Hope it turns out well.
I got the rest of the brush I planned on getting down last night and raked up. I got it all hauled over by the fire pit this morning. Now that I have almost no time to make progress on it before it gets dark, I've decided its time to install some auxiliary lighting on the Rhino. I've got some cheap 10" LED light bars, mounting brackets for the roll bars, relays, and weather proof switches on order. When they eventually get here I'm going to have one forward and one rear facing light on independent switches.
The plan for today is the same as last Sunday - working on taming the jungle outside.
alan i hope the CC dent is still there next week when i come back up to visit...
