I’m rebuilding a Holly 4160, four barrel, 390 CFM carb and the gasket between the main body and the primary metering block was stuck on so well that it tore when I pried them apart.
it’s being a real pain to clean the old gasket off.
is this normal?
I bought it new in the box from Summit 3 years ago FWIW.
Yep that is normal and a real PITA to clean off.
A razor blade works for me.
The newer gaskets IIRC dont do that but been a long time since I messed with any of my Holley's.
Also an old trick was to spray the gaskets with Pan cooking spray before they went back together.
