P1272 Code Won't Go Away
Remembering the last time I did the valve cover gaskets and harnesses and having problems with cheap ones I replaced it with, I ordered up Motorcraft parts. I also bought a replacement engine harness since the one on the truck was original and the valve cover harnesses were replaced back in 2020 when I did the valve covers, glow plugs, etc. The replacement of the harness did seem to make the truck run fine when on the throttle except the check engine light is still on with a code p1272 and the trucks seems to run a bit rough when idling. I did replace the IDM although it didn't seem to make a difference, leaving the p1272 code.
So, I've replaced/done the following:
Replaced the driver side Valve cover gasket and under valve cover harness with motorcraft
Did the quarter mod on the harness under the valve cover
Replaced the engine top harness
Replaced the IDM
ohmed out all four injectors on the driver side, all of which are in specifications right around 2.9 ohms
ohmed out the new engine harness from the valve cover connector to the 42 pin connector which is good
ohmed out from the 42 pin connector to the IDM which is good
all eight injectors do buzz during a buzz test and they all sound similar
THe P1316 code is gone but I still have this p1272 code that I can't seem to whip and comes back even after clearing it. Still when idling the truck runs rough but when I'm on the pedel it seems to be okay. The other issue I have is that the truck is sitting in my buddies drive way 175 miles from my home as this whole thing started while on a trip towing the high school marching band trailer.
Am I at the point where I should change that #2 injector? Should I do it in his driveway or am I able to drive it the 175 miles home and then change it? I'm at a loss at this point and with it being so far away it's a three hour one way trip before I can even touch the truck at this point.
