E40d problem

Just put a new reman trans(E40d) and new reman converter into my truck and it won't shift but feels like it gets to the rpm to shift then kinda feels like it wants to but at the last minute dosent if that makes sense. The instructions said to only put 1/2 a quart of atf into the converter and 10 to 14 into the trans pan. That dosent seem enough, could that be causing my problem. The truck also has a bank trans controller I belive its called but when I unplug it it makes the od light flash so assuming that's not my problem.
Any help is appreciated!

Sounds like it's low on ATF. Have you checked trans fluid when up to temp with engine running?

What does your dipstick show? Always check with the engine running.

yeah I did just my dip stick is all bent and I can't find a replacement rn so it kinda a guessing game. Thanks for your help ill let you know if thats the problem.

A fuse was blown. Guess should always start at the basics

no it wasn't and it would sgift just would shift really hard to the point you could see the truck jerk when shifts. I just bought the truck and the guy said it need a new tranmisson and I was dumb and blindly belived him since he said he put a Facebook marketplace place special into it. (Trans when pulled out showed to have come put of a 1991 f250 was written on. Dont know how true it is) . Also has a rust spot above the dome loght so though water got into it making it not work. Pretty much sums it up.
