Transmission issue
I am having an issue with the transmission in my 2011 F250 Super-duty.
Once about every 2-3 weeks, my transmission indicator in the dash will start to flash and scan back and forth, from drive to 1and back. Someone in another forum said to check the fluid level, which I am now doing. When It does this scanning and I add fluid it will stop scanning. The next issue I have is that I must be loosing tranny fluid someplace but am not seeing any oil spots under the vehicle or anywhere in the engine compartment.
I have notice with some of the cooler days we have had, when using the heater, I can smell a hint of hot oil. Is this an indicator that it is somehow leaking into the cooling system? Does the transmission cooling lines go through the main radiator and possibly be leaking into the cooling system through there? I cant really tell if it is because the antifreeze used in my truck is the red antifreeze which is the same color as the tranny fluid. When I look at the reservoir, I do not see any foaming going on in there.
Any insight would be great.
Thanks in advance.
