The bench seat in my trucks is all torn up and the springs would be poking me if it was not for the duct tape. So i need a new seat bad, but my idea is to bolt down a couch instead. Does anybody know if this is possible? I was thinking that i could sawzall The armrests off seal it of with some duct tape and still use the origanal seat belts. If this idea is not going to happen what bench would bolt in?
Nix the couch idea. It is way too thick and you would have to be a midget to even get in. It isn't that hard to bolt a different seat in. I had one from a 57 in my 69 once and it seems like it bolted right up. And for sure anything through 79 would work and maybe later too.
rebulding bench seats are ppretty easy and affordable. alot of
companys have the seat covers and foam as well as sping kits
just an option....i did mine and it looks and fell like a new seat.
too many trucks in the bone yards with good seats that go failry cheap to really justify rebuilding the old one unless you are a total orignal junkie. you can go up to a 96 like he said earlier and just have to do a little work.
I saw a 72 F250 today with 1966 Lincoln seats. They were power seats with a fold down center arm rest. It looked really nice. The guy had it reupholstered and welded extension brackets to the rails to make it fit.
The car seats like the 66 lincoln work fine for shorter peopel nut the great thickness of these old seats sacrifice some of the precious legroom that is already barely adequate.
