5th wheel Gooseneck Mount Hitch Recommendations

I just purchased a 2022 F350 Crew cab Platinum 6.7L (5th wheel gooseneck rated 21,900 lbs) with regular bed (81.9 in). I also purchased a 2024 Brinkley Z3100 5th wheel (L 35’, GVWR 15,000 lbs.)
My question is what is the best Gooseneck Mount trailer hitch you would recommend? The trailer shop recommends the Andersen Ultimate 5th wheel hitch Model 3220 rated at GTWR 24,000 lbs. and 4,500 lbs tongue weight.
Thoughts experiences etc? Thank you

Gen Y makes a good one, just make sure it is properly sized to your pin weight. Is there a particular reason for going goose on a 5th wheel trailer?

I talked to my local hitch installer and he higher recommended going with a Pullrite Superglide ISR Series #2900 20K with 14” travel, if not this one at least another slider like the Companion 5th wheel hitch.

Reese Goosebox. It's very popular here on the forum.

I've been using a Goosebox since 2018 and would not use anything else. I tried an Anderson and returned it, just didn't look strong enough. Before the Goosebox I used several different flavors of standard 5th hitches, both fixed and slider. The Goosebox is the best for ride quality and no noise.

I did buy a second Anderson to get my current 5th wheel home so I didn't have to swap pin boxes in the sellers driveway. Still not impressed with them, light weight and 5th wheel hitch do not go together.

reese goosebox, many many miles with it.

Get the 20K version.

Anderson comes in second place as a good option.

I would also recommend a Reese Goosebox because it will ease the impacts of the trailer on the truck and provide a more comfortable towing experience. Plus it leaves your bed empty when parked somewhere. When I bought my 2022 GD 390RK, it was shipped with a Gorilla frame which had different wings, which at the time did not fit the Reese Goosebox. They make one that fits now, but it is pretty pricey compared to the older model.

I ran a Pullrite superlite on my combination (RAM 3500 CCLB and GD 390RK). Because my combo was at the limits of my truck, I used this type of hitch to save weight. I thought it was a good combo hitch as long as the road was smooth. I did get some bucking (porposing) on rougher roads and section of highway that would unsettle the truck but it survived several panic stops. My combo came with a Morryde rubberized pin box so that helped, though I bent the plate and had to upgrade to Morryde's thicker bottom plate for Anderson-style single point hitches. I did have a failure on the latch of my gooseball which caused a trailer separation so make sure you use safety chains.

I have since purchased a Trailer Saver TS3 that I found on FB market place for $1,200 (Which is a steal) and use a rail adapter for the puck system. I have yet to tow the rig with this combo, but will report the difference when I drag the trailer back from Colorado to Cali in early December.

I chose not to go with an Anderson (Made of aluminum) because I have seen enough failures under panic braking that I was not comfortable so that is why I went Superlite (Made of steel and still pretty light). My buddy bought an Anderson and he has never had a problem with it. His trailer is also lighter than mine.

So you would choose a Reese gooseneck ($2300) over a Pullrite Superglide ($1600) #2900 for my application? Is it worth the difference in cost?

Well, in my opinion, the Pullrite Superglide is better suited for your short bed application as it will allow you to turn tighter which is very helpful in a park. Trying back into a spot with limited turning radius might make you very frustrated, or wind up with cab damage if you push it. With my long bed application, I could turn a full 90 degrees with a traditional hitch or gooseball setup and still have room if I needed (Which I have used several times getting into tight parks with my CCLB and 41.5 foot trailer).

You will lose the dampening and ride offered by the Reese, but there an air-ride pin box that should work with your setup which can help. Just be aware of the weight of combined hitch combinations with a SRW truck.

seems like a lot of parts. I have over 40k miles on my Gen-Y goosebox. If you didn't look behind you, you couldn't tell you had a trailer behind you.

If you are looking for shortbed hitches, a gooseneck wont give what you need. Either a slider or a Sidewinder will be better suited for your application. A sidewinder moves the pivot from the 5th wheel to the center of the frame mount, giving you 22" of cab clearance over the standard pinbox. You will be able to make 110* turns. It is what I have on my 43' 5th wheel. The only Caveat is you MUST use the proper 5th wheel hitch, one that has a wedge made for it. I have a Curt 5th wheel, an A20 and supposedly there was a wedge for it, but it was loose and sloppy and now that wedge is no longer labeled for the A20. If you go with a Sidewinder, go with a Reese 5th wheel as they are a perfect match.

I believe the wedge included with the Sidewinder fits this hitch
