Hey guys, I'm looking for some info on replacement of my 4R100, my unit is a 2000 e450 2wd transmission with ebrake.
from my understanding these are just regular 4x4 transmissions with the brake bolting up where the transfer case would, my local wrecker is saying that theres so many different options and i have a line on a rebuilt 4x4 tranny i would like to purchase, any info would help.
Post a picture of yours
I believe you are correct (so is the wrecker guy)
So, the difference used to be the tail shaft length and possibly the case
Call a few trans shops?
Pull your E brake off and see what your shaft and case looks like
Compare that to a 4x2 trans with the tail housing removed (and a 4x4 one)
I think you might be right, and you will be needing the 4x4 one
Mark might know, hopefully he will chime in
It is a 4x4 trans. You need to match the engine. The transmissions are different with different engines.
yes, it's a 7.3 so 6 bolt tc. I just finished reading an old 2020 thread that someone had similar questions, looks like I'm good with a 4x4 tranny for a 7.3l
ford change the numbers throughout the years but internals should all be the same only difference is 4x2 and 4x4 👍
