different transfer case

Guys, heres my deal.

I have a 99 5.4 4x4 with AWD. About 3 months ago i posted on here about 4x4 engaging by itself. I took it to a dealership where they kept it for 2 weeks and didnt fix anything. I then picked it up and took it to a 4x4 mechanic, and he didnt fix the problem either. EVer since this problem started, ive replaced the GEM module, ball joints, and front axles just to make sure. The transfer case is stuck in 4wd, so i took off the front driveshaft so i can drive my family around. Ive gotta say ive noticed an increase in gas mileage and it drives a lot nicer now, but i still want my 4x4 back eventually.

I dont want to go through this 4x4 stuff again. Id like to replace the transfer case with something that will allow me to switch on 4x4 when i call for it, not relying on something to sense when the front and rear wheels are moving at different speeds and engage 4x4. Is there a transfer case out of an earlier or later model Expedition that is rear 2wd, and 4x4 when switching? Id like to get that in my truck so we can get back out on the trails safely. Im done with this electronic crap telling me when i need 4x4.

Looking around, i found 4x2 conversions for full time transfer cases. If my transfer case is stuck in 4x4, with high and low still working, could this be an option? http://www.milemarker.com/4x2conversion.html Ill replace the transfer case, but i still want 4x2 and 4x4 when i demand, not when the electronics say.

The 97 had 2WD, AWD, 4WD, & 4L . Don't know what besides the transfer case you would have to change but it will all bolt right into your 99.
