looking for a zf5
My friend recently got himself a 1991 7.3 IDI with a zf5. Only issue id that the trans case is cracked. Its a 4x4. Should probably post this in the classifieds but Im hoping to have better luck here at finding him a trans. He said all the internal gears were good so theoretically he just needs a case to swap the gears into. If anybody knows of any could you let me know. Located in NJ but near PA, CT and NY areas. Thanks guys

If the TRANSFER CASE is cracked, you need a new transfer case.
If the TRANSMISSION housing is cracked then he needs a new transmission. Is the rear part of the housing cracked? where the transfer case hooks up?
Two totally different things!
BTW, unless your friend knows what he's getting into, he really wants a new transmission. The ZF5 is NOT very userfriendly to take apart and rebuild. There have been several threads about this (in the last week or so even) showing what is involved with rebuilding a ZF5.
PS if he need a 4x4 ZF5, look at F-Superduty/F-450's as well. They came with a 4x4 ZF5 with a parking brake bolted on instead of a transfer case. To be clearer, they are 2wd trucks, but used 4x4 transmissions.

He needs the transmission case or a working transmission. All of us guys could get the internals swapped over with combined brain power. Most of my buds have been trained how to rebuild transmissions.
