Hi folks 2000 E350 Super Duty 360K miles, with rear ac, no temp control, just fan control. Slight leak in front compressor bearing and its starting to complain a bit, and I'm having to recharge regularly. I've been on the Rock Auto site trying to figure out which one to buy, any recommendations? Looks like a lot of them come pre-oiled which seems like a nice way to go,
All the compressor installation guides I’ve read/watched say to pour out existing oil and pour in the specified amount. Might have to do with whether you’re installing the compressor in a completely dry system or replacing only the compressor.
True story, if it comes full of oil (which is nice) you still need to see how much was in the old one, and try to match that with your new one
If installing a dry one, I usually add 4 ounces or less depending on how much I can get bout of the old one

I'll be replacing this compressor, so there will be some oil in the system. I'll try to pour out what's in there and get a measurement and since I'm doing that it doesn't make sense to buy a "pre-oiled" compressor.

sadly, no, which is sorta what started the thread. Rock Auto sells GPD, UAC and Four Seasons. Dunno, maybe NAPA is the way to go on this one?
Also, how can I tell if this system is fixed orifice or expansion valve?

Four Season's, NAPA's better line or OEM would be my advice. I replaced the compressor in my 2000 E-250 with an OEM found on eBay new in box, maybe 10 years ago. Try to find your best price deal locally, I don't trust Rock Auto for fair treatment should an issue arise.
The 2000 E-Series if totally stock will be FOT, the only time a TXV would be part of the factory-built A/C system would be if the rear A/C system is installed---there's one inside the evaporator/heater core housing located left rear of the cabin.
