I have a 22 f-150 XL. I would like to know what it would take to have bed lights installed. I noticed that Ford has holes with plastic caps for 2 oval shaped lights and a square plugged knockout for what I assume would be a switch. I also noticed that there appears that there are 2 unused wiring connectors under the bed located in the rear on the drivers side. I am wondering if this is a ready to go harness that the ford lights would plug into. Has anyone ever added Ford bed lighting and can confirm about the harnesses. Also, does ford have a lighting kit with a supplied switch that would be an easy plug iin and done? Would I have to deal with Forscan to make the lights work? Thanks for any input.
I have personally used this company and these lights in orange:https://www.superbrightleds.com/vehi...ensft-wflb-x96 I put them in the front side fender vent. They have been there since Nov. '21 with no problems, still look great.
I guess I may ask my dealer about his. But in the mean time I was surfing the net and found a kit from Custom Auto Works that uses all the existing holes in the bed. A switch is included as well. What I like is direct connection to battery and bed switch. No forscan or ripping into third brake light. No digging for a fob that is not readily available. A simple switch in the bed. Has anyone used this kit? If so how about a review of your install?
I was just looking for who else sells these lights and came across this thread. Here is a link to a bed light kit that uses the OE holes in the bed that are left blank if you dont have the OE bed lights. Complete kit with switch, lights, harness, relay etc.
I used the custom autoworks kit that I talked about in my post above. I ran the main plastic loom from the battery to the rear of the truck inside the box frame. There are holes all over the frame. You can easily find a place to enter and exit the frame.I have a regular cab with a 6.5 box and didnt seem to have an abundance of extra length on the main plastic loom, I was wondering if I had an extended or crew cab with a 8' box if the main line would have been long enough. Everything works as it should when installed but I was a little dissapointed in the amount of light it put off. I also like the idea that the switch breaks the negative to the relay coil so there is never 12 volts on the main line until you turn on the switch.
I bought the OEM lights (2), button, and harnesses. They plugged right into the factory harness. But you need to enable them with Forscan or have the dealer do it with their software. Mine is a Lariat, so not sure if the XL has the same bed harness, but if you have the plug on either side, it *should* work. But to be safe, maybe the aftermarket set up would be a better option.

I'll keep looking. The Tasca Ford site won't load, maybe later it will work. Can't seem to find those parts on the other Ford parts websights. Could be my search of bed lights is incorrect.
