Dent repair on cowl section
Hello All,
the truck I bought has some dings and dents but otherwise in great shape. I have one spot that is a bit odd and not sure how to proceed it is right on the edge of the cowl section. The top of the cowl also has a dented in section.

I have had a similar situations with deep compound dent on tailgates before. I cut out the dented section. I then easily hammered the cut out section back into its original shape. I welded the repaired section back into place. There may be other ways to handle these types of dents but this way worked for me.

I think there's access on the passenger side through the fresh air duct opening, but not on the driver's side. I have kick panels over mine right now, so I can't verify this. If that's the case, choices are to pull it out or get one of those dent specialists who can do remarkable things through the small access holes that are available. That, however will cost a little $$. Body filler these days isn't such a sin. Especially if you use the metal reinforced fillers.

I will have to check for this access panel I do have questions regarding the kick panel is there patch panels available for that as the passenger side is rusty as well as passenger side floor pans with the hole for the battery box? Should I be asking all questions in the same thread or starting new ones for each thing?

The bottom of those panels are very susceptible to rusting from the inside out. I would suggest cutting across the top and drilling the spot welds along the edges to remove it completely, then sandblast the inner structure while its apart.
