Hi all,
What is all of your opinions on bug shields? Anyone have one on their truck? I'm looking to buy one, but don't know how good they will look on my 13 f250. Does anyone have pics with one on their truck? I have seen online pics, but they are usually close ups and I can't really get a good idea how it looks.
I have one on my '13 white. Doing maintenance on my PC so I can't post a picture at the moment. I have the Cervini hood on my truck. I went with the WeatherTech one. From a "shape" perspective they are the same. The WeatherTech shield seems to retain it's "new" look much longer than the Ford shield. I like it because it sorta gives a barrier between the grille and hood.
I ordered the AVS Aeroskin 2. It's matte black and low profile. It sticks right on to the edge of the hood. Looks great in my opinion. I also ordered it from carid.com. A great site IMHO.
Never liked them for a long time. Put one on my 09 and the look really grew on me. Have put one on my 99 yet but they defiantly protect the front lip of the hood.
x2 on the protection of the edge of the hood, Firefighter. But I got a nice chip on the chrome on the top of the grill. I'd actually like to have the big chrome on the grill sprayed with Bedliner to match the bug reflector and to match the future black aftermarket front bumper I'm going to get.
I think bug shields look terrible. I had one vehicle that had one and I took it off in short order. They don't do enough for me to justify putting up with their hideous appearance.

That's the wonderful thing about opinions... Every body got one.
I put one on my 92 explorer and my 2001 Super Duty.
I thought that the extra air deflection gives me better fuel economy, and directs the bugs up higher.
Just looked thru my file, but cannot find paperwork

Well, the OP asked for opinions on bug shields and I gave mine. More specifically, I've never had problems with rock chips on the hood by not having one. I do not follow other vehicles very closely so that hasn't been a problem. What they do about bugs isn't worth taking the hit to my vehicle's looks.

It would direct bugs up higher as I understand it. However, I doubt they do anything for fuel economy. The one time I had one and removed it, there was no change in fuel efficiency.
