I have a 2017 F-550 6.8l gas service truck. My boss bought me a new backup camera to install and I need help finding a place to wire in the trigger wire for the camera to activate when put in reverse. I need a wire color & location, alternate location / way to tap into what I need to make it work. I was told I could just run wires all the way to the reverse lights but I'd rather not do that.
If the 550 is like the 250/350, there's a 20 pin connector on the passenger side frame rail next to the spare tire. All of the rear lights pass through it. For my 2022, the GN-BN (Green Wire with Brown stripe) is the reverse light wire on pin 7. I would assume it was the same for 2017. You might want to check with a volt meter or test light.
Got a 2017 F250 that both reverse lights are not working. Cleaned the connectors with electrical cleaner and then it works for a day or so then they go out again. Do you think it's the connector or gear selector switch on the tranny? Also, are the plugs/connectors replaceable?
