I have a 2017 F-550 6.8l gas service truck. My boss bought me a new backup camera to install and I need help finding a place to wire in the trigger wire for the camera to activate when put in reverse. I need a wire color & location, alternate location / way to tap into what I need to make it work. I was told I could just run wires all the way to the reverse lights but I'd rather not do that.
Don’t really have an answer, but maybe the suggestion for going back to the lights, or at least part of the way back to the lights was because sometimes the range switch (or whatever they call it these days) on the transmission has a boatload of wires bundled together, and would be trouble to separate and splice into.
Maybe even check out your fuse box under the hood or under the dash to see if there’s a dedicated back up light fuse.
There probably is, but now that I think about it it’s probably got power anytime the ignition switch is on. Not necessarily fused between the transmission and back-up lamps.
