Orange Wrench/Limp Mode
I have a 2011 Lariat with 5.0 / 280000km.
-Recently have experienced the random wrench with erratic idle which resolves when foot on brake pedal. Would go away after a key off/on cycle.
-After a few days of cycling key it is no stuck on permanent
-pedal has no response
-found a work around the no response by placing in gear and revving/cycling pedal - pedal is then responsive but has no low end or ability to pull away from a stop
-once rolling I can get it to highway speed, (left turns at intersection are dicey- haha)
to remedy I read many posts and tried to swap the ETB and accelerator pedal from a crashed 5.0 truck at junkyard.
the clean ETB does seem to have improved the performance it has not removed the limp mode, nor the lack of pedal function.
Seems once the pedal gets past the first inch of travel it is responsive, however the issue is consistent across the original pedal and the used one.
Is the ECM the next thing to look at?
After swapping parts I was able to get a buddy to scan and the P2127-00 and P2127-00-AF codes were present.
The wiring does have me thinking - it was in a heavy downpour when it first happened. I don't suspect rodent damage as we don't have much for critters and my truck is always on the move (100000km a year) but am often in mud and crap so perhaps something has rubbed thru. Needle in a hay stack that will be.
