He said they (the dealership) ordered most all their 4x4's with the snow plow package because customers generally didn't like the nose down look of the 4x4 trucks without the snow plow package, and this dealer was in an area of the country that does not ever get snow, so these trucks weren't actually getting snow plows put on them.

I am looking at a front tray to mount the winch, but I am toying with the idea of a receiver and a cradle so I can use it in the front and the rear. The problem is that the front receivers, I am finding, only allow up to a 9,500lb straight-line pull.
If I get stuck in the sand or hung up high-sided on a ditch, is that enough strength to pull from using a 12k winch? How about pulling a car from a ditch or a buddy from the creek bed?
