increase hauling weight???

What is the best way to increase the hauling weight for my 2000 ranger 4x4, I want to haul my 4 wheeler without the cops knowing I am close to the weight limit.

you shouldn't be close to your weight limit with one 4-wheeler
. Are you talking about payload or trailer weight?

just payload, the 4wheeler is not that heavy, but you know how pa cops are if you look over weight that will stop you.

I like the Roadmaster Active Suspension springs. With a 12 ft. tandem axle trailer and a riding mower up front the truck sits right at level.

well as long as you are not trying to overload it i would use helper springs. the kind that slide over the shocks and give a extra 1,250 lbs capacity.

I Google'd "roadmaster active suspension system", and the first result came up with Summit Racing. For my '99 x-cab 4x4 the price was $189.

If your ranger is sagging enough to look over weight with a quad then you might need new springs.

for a small increase in weight capacity, stiffer springs, will suffice. if you need more than about a 20% increase though, you need to stiffen the chassis to handle the load, along with the stiffer springs. i agree with using a trailer though, best way to go.

Dude I live in PA and have put quads in the back of my truck for years and passed cops sagging a little. You'll be fine. my one friend has an old long bed ranger and he put two 4-wheelers in that all the time. I once came up to a police roadblock with my Ranger packed full of mulch to the point of my mud flaps dragging and I stopped and talked to them and they didn't say a word to me about it.

Does any one know if there are those free floating overload springs that sit ontop the spring pack like the ones on the super duty? Do they sell ranger specific types or would i have to have them custom made by a spring shop?
