Changed C6 -D servo valve

Hi
has anyone changed a servo valve on a C6 transmission? And what is the difference between a D servo and a R servo?
I have a C6 with a 390 from a 1968 Ford LTD with the letter D on the servo cover.
the problem I’m having is the 2nd to 3rd shift I have to let off the gas to get it to shift into 3rd, and then , it is a solid shift there is no slipping, and 1st to 2nd is a normal shift up and down, by what I’ve read the problem is the servo valve.
Rock auto sells the kit but it’s only has the R servo.
I have the vacuum coming off the intake manifold.
any help would be appreciated.

I had similar issue with my C-6 (1970-429/C6)

It turned out to be a leak in the vacuum hose that goes to the modulator. It was actually dried out and cracked.

Sometimes the modulator itself could be bad or leaking. Have you checked that line already?

i do have a new rubber line going Modular valve I think I’ll try to change it to a metal line next.
it was a used transmission that came with the motor, motor was rebuilt.

You need to be careful with R servos and what anchor numbers on other side of band. If you use the wrong anchor with the R you can break the case.
