APIM Replacement

Hey all, I have a 2018 350, it’s had some electrical gremlins for a while. Took it into the dealership and they are saying I need to replace the APIM. I am assuming I can’t just get by with a aftermarket stereo without a functioning APIM? Of course the extended warranty doesn’t cover it, and would like to have a functioning stereo and back up camera.

May I ask what type of extended warranty you have that doesn't include the apim?

I was having some problems with mine, Hotspot stopped working a couple months ago. A few weeks ago, Radio started to hang up. It would play, but you could not change the station, and details on the screen. It would show the same times, song name etc for hours. I did the soft reset and that would fix the radio for a few days. So after doing a few soft resets, I did a Master reset. That didn't improve anything. This last week, system lost phone every time I turned truck off. I would have to forget the old and re-pair the phone to the truck in order to have any hands free use of the phone.

Yesterday, I disconnected my batteries and left it for 30 minutes. When I re-connected batteries, my phone is working just fine now. If you have not tried that. You should.

I forget the name, but it was one down from the most expensive one. Probably the middle priced one.

Unfortunately the truck is at the dealership. It’s interesting I couldn’t get it to pair up with my phone, but it would pair with my wife’s . Then one day the screen and the front usb ports were dead. It would work occasionally. But most of the time it didn’t work. I’ve also had intermittent problems with the bliss and back up sensors faulting and not working, but the dealership could never recreate the problem. I would assume that is a different module than this, but I don’t know. Idk at least the warranty covered the leaky rear diff at 50k miles, but I guess I should have just sprung for the most expensive one. My previous F-150 never had as many problems as I’ve had with this truck.
