What a hassle. I am short $180 so I figured I would just get a cash advance from my credit card. Can't do it. They only allow $100 per day, and the atm fee is $3. So, I contacted PayPal since I have a credit card with them. They only allow $60 total. So, now I have to go to the bank and get a cash advance from both, then come back home and transfer it to his wife's PayPal account. He has agreed to hold the truck until Saturday. So everything is working out, just not as smoothly as I would like.
Well, I am now the proud owner of my second 2005 Ford F150! Finally got enough $$$ together to buy it. Hank, send me a PM so I can give you the address in Milpitas to pick it up. I told him I would not be able to get it until this weekend. He said that is okay. He does want it out of there at the earliest though. I think when I recover from this financially, I will get my own AAA membership. Of course, with any luck, after we build one good truck out of two, I shouldn't need it. LOL
Hank, when will you be able to tow the truck? The seller wants it gone asap. He says after 2pm today is good as he is at a party gathering at his aunt's house until then. It doesn't matter to me when you can do it, but of course I would like it here as early as possible. My mechanic will have to make room for it somewhere as he wants to work on one of his vehicles this weekend. I just don't want any problems with the seller.
Is there anyone in the Bay area that I can have the truck towed to until Hank gets back? I think he meant to say he can't provide assistance because he is not in the area. The seller is driving me crazy wanting to know when I can get it out of his driveway.
I can't rent a U-Haul truck and auto dolly, they say the tow is not recommended, no matter what truck I choose. They have the button grayed out so I can't continue. And UShip wants $770 to tow it here. (That is ridiculous, it is only 153 miles) That is only the first offer, I think I have seen one for $550 but that is still way too high.
Nobody? The seller is threatening to cancel the transaction because I have not towed the truck out of his driveway. I really don't want to lose a rebuilt engine for $680. Is there anyone who can store it for a few days? I can use my USAA roadside assistance to have it towed somewhere locally, just not all the way down here.
Jim, sorry that I can't help. My small house has a garage that is actually a carriage house. A modern car cannot fit through the garage door, as the space was only intended for an Amish buggy. My cars and motorcycle are parked on the street, wherever I can find a space. That means that I always have to walk about 1/4 mile to 1/2 to get home, or go get one of the cars. It would not help you to have a tow truck haul that truck 50 miles to San Francisco, then tell the tow driver to find a place on the street to leave it.
No worries. I may have a solution. I woke up this morning and had a question from a shipper on UShip. He says he can do it today for $337. That is by far the lowest bid I have received so far. However, I have answered his question and have not received a response yet, so I don't know. I may have replied too late as he stated his driver is headed my way. I sure hope not. I want that truck down here asap, and I know the seller wants it out of his driveway.
