Blinkers

Hey all, having a bit of a situation with my blinkers. My four ways, tail lights and brake lights work but I’m not getting any power to the turn signal in the steering column. My 30 amp fuse for heater is getting power and so is my 15 amp for blinkers/back up lights (they don’t work either) I know there is switches for that stuff but I’m not sure where they are located or if there is any tricks to what may be going wrong.

Thanks in advance

Have you checked the flasher to see if it's bad?

Are you talking about the relay on the fuse box? If that it was hard wired in by a previous owner. I plan to put a new relay in there. I swapped out the old blinker assembly with a new one and now the one blinker that did work doesn’t now but I have four ways. Lightbulbs are brand new and so are the sockets. It’s just not getting power to the switch in the steering column. The wires are showing continuity when operating the switch

I think I just had a moment! If there is no relay how can the power go from the fuse box to the steering column? It can’t and the flashers are a separate system so that’s the problem. I’m laughing at myself right now. Something so simple over looked 🤣🤦🏼‍♂️

You should have two flashers. One is on the front of the fuse box, one is on the back of the fuse box. Not sure which one is which, but one is for the turnsignals, and one is for the 4 way flashers.

The turnsignal switch is fed power from 3 different places.

1. The 4 way flasher

2. The turnsignal flasher

3. The brake pedal switch

The turnsignal switch mixes and or selects these signals depending on what position you put it in. And the flashers do have fuses, so one side of the flasher socket should have power with the key on.

Yes there is the 4 way on the back and the blinker is on the front (the one I’m missing) so I put a little jumper wire in the slots and the blinker stays on. So a new flasher relay and I’ll be good to go. Now to figure out why the passenger brake light doesn’t work and I’ll be street legal for the first time in 17 years

With the jumper in if the light stays on out back when to the right turn but no brake light the issue is in the column in my book.
When you hit the brake and have the turn to the right it should cancel the brake light to that side so it can blink.

We find when trucks & cars sit the switches get a funk on the contacts and stop working.
You can try spraying contact cleaner between the wheel & column and move the switch back & forth to clean that funk off the contacts and see if it will work.
