I've got a 1977 Ford F-150 (6 cylinder). Had some trouble starting it and traced the problem to the connector harness behind the ignition switch. Some wires are not being securely held in the connector. I can start it reliably if I remove the ignition switch from the dash, grasp the connector / switch assembly and turn the key.
So I'm trying to find a replacement connector for the wire harness behind the ignition switch. I can find lots of ignition switch bodies, but I need the connector not the switch. I tried searching for "ignition switch connector", "ignition switch harness connector", "ignition switch female connector", but can't find anything.
Is there a different search term I should be using? I'm considering trying to find a different year ignition switch, as long as I can get a matching connector for the back side.
Ignition switch pigtail. 77 is a one off year with 73-76 and 78-79 having their own plug setups. I found that out when swapping out some ignition parts on my 77. I don't think its actually reproduced and the next time I find a 77 in the wrecking yard, I'll snag it as a spare. 77 has a few other one off parts/setups as well that I've noticed. Fun stuff.
Doosenbury: I'll try searching for "pigtail". But I'm guessing there won't be many since it's a one-off. Thanks for the info!
Citymorg: Great idea about the spade connectors. It looks like the pigtail connector has worn / melted slightly so that's why the wires are loose. I may be able to just use spade connectors with some shrink wrap insulation tubing. Thank you too!

Reason: Added response to all suggestions so far.
I'm still looking for a pigtail, but in the interim, I took Citymorg's suggestion and connected the ignition switch wires directly to the pins on the back of the switch assembly. I removed each wire / plug from the connector by pushing a small locking pin away from the connector using a narrow screw driver. You can access the pins from the face of the connector opposite the wires.
I'm attaching a couple of pictures so folks can see the cracking (melting?) in the connector housing. It's mostly on the BAT connection. I think it's this cracking that allowed the wires to separate and made the igition only work intermittently.
It's great to have the truck starting reliably again! Thanks for the help.
