The last leak on my truck is the rear of the intake. I plan on simply removing, refreshing and resealing the intake. The only question I have is on the AC compressor (York style, converted, works great).
The shop manual says I need to discharge the system, a procedure requiring vac pumps and refrigerant pumps. An AC tech I am not.
Question: Should I take to my local AC guy to safely discharge, do my intake work, and then return to AC guy for a recharge?
if you actually have to remove the compressor/bracket, there should be enough slack in the hoses to carefully move the compressor far enough without disconnecting them...
You can move it over onto the inner apron. I've rep[laced the heads even, placing the compressor over there secured with rope, might remove the washer water jug though.
Does it have the service valves still on it? If so, turned all the way inward the compressor is isolated, just don't pour oil out. Leave the valves on the hose ends.
