The newer ESOF systems are much more reliable than the systems that were used on the 1st generation trucks. ESOF got a reputation for being unreliable on the 1st generation trucks. That stigma carries on today, even though it isn't true.

The new Warn hubs come as a DIY kit. It includes the vacuum block off caps etc. so yes I will not have ESOF any longer I grew up with full manual hubs and have no problem going back to them........its just the price that stops me, lol.

I like it a lot. If my vacuum hubs ever fail I'll install those and be done with it. In the winter I could leave them locked so I can switch in/out from the drivers seat, then unlock them all summer.

I think the cause of the hubs seizing up has been determined to be from lack of use. If we all just operate the hubs from time to time(maybe weekly, monthly?) they might not seize up, IDK but I'm going to try that approach.

You can operate your standard hubs in the same manner, I lock mine for winter and leave them locked.

Not true in my case, I use them all the time at job sights, this is what I've been doing most of my life with manual hubs. My hubs are probably turned 3 to 5 times a week. I blame it on road debris and road salt corroding the interior of the actuator.

I'm sorry but anyone trying to get a Ford OEM Hub part replaced under warranty by Warn isn't thinking. Cause it's NOT a Warn part, it's a Ford part.

With that said, ask yourself....Why hasn't Warn made a aftermarket replacement ESOF hub?? Cause their contract with Ford for the OEM hubs doesn't allow them to make the aftermarket ESOF hub.

FYI from the phone call I just made:
Warn Industries split about 5 years ago. Two different companies now : Warn Automotive, and Warn Industries.
Warn Automotive is responsible for the OE parts side of things like 4wd hubs.
Warn Industries (under LKQ now) is the aftermarket side of things like replacement 4wd hubs.

Yes, Warn Industries cannot "make/create" replacement ESOF hubs due to the contractual obligations (pre-company splitting) of Warn Automotive.

I would buy another OEM set(which are made by Warn in the USA) and periodically spray them down with long term corrosion inhibitor.

3rd set....you are doing some serious driving in some crappy conditions OR.....you aren't doing it right.

BTW Warn makes the OEM locking hubs....IF you are a manual operation guy then by all means give us the piece of mind to spend $500 ONCE...we might never hear about this issue from you again.
