had factory 7 pin and brake controller harness and like my luck all has been cut out from previous owner
ive used multi meter and remote continuity tester to get wires traced and soldered back
I seem to get brake controller to light up with manual and with pressing of the brake pedal. But blue brake wire seems to always have 12v even at the back of controller. I tried with another brake controller and same thing. Now both brake controllers are 15+years old and dont know the working condition. I dont know if brake wire is suppose to have constant voltage or if both controllers are fried. I have another brake controller but i hate to keep chopping them out of vehicles

As you said, it's a 15 year old vehicle. There is a chance that, if the controller was removed from the vehicle, that it was because some wires chaffed through, which could cause the blue wire to be hot all the time. Sounds like you gotta chase some wires.

with only attaching hot and ground the short brake wire coming out of controller is hot.im thinking of buying a new brake controller . And if brand new controller still does it then i guess have a short in wire some where. I will check continuity to ground
