I just installed a tekonsha envoy controller for my neighbor in his 02 duramax. It has an LED on the front that is supposed to glow green when the trailer is plugged in, and I get nothing. I have tried it on 2 different trailers, both of which worked last time they were used, and still gotten nothing. When the brake is depressed, the LED turns red like it is supposed to. Anyone have any ideas?
I assume you used the brake controller harness provided by GM? Did you plug it into the 7 way connector in back that GM installs? Do the trailers have a 6 or 7 pin connector? The first thing that comes to mind is your brake wire on the truck is on a different pin than the trailer. However you say that the LED turns red when you press the brake pedal. From my experience with the Tekonsha Voyagers, that shouldn't happen if the green light doesn't show.
Have you used this control in another vehicle? Can you confirm that the green light worked properly in the other vehicle?
I replaced another controller that did work on the truck, but the **** was broken to adjust the sensitivity, so that's why I replaced it. I only got the red light when I was messing with the adjustment on the bottom. I have not tried the controller in another vehicle, I have the ford one in my truck, guess I can try it in my dad's truck...
Try calling Tekonsha. I have always had really good luck with thier Tech Support. I am not very familiar with the Envoy, but that just doesn't sound right that you get the amber/red light but not green.
Stupid fuses....The first thing I checked was all of the fused related to the trailer braking system, and it still didnt work. I got out my DMM and found that there was no power to the controller, so I went back to the fuse box. I found a fuse that was labeled Ignition 2, blown...
