I put new door rubber on my 53-shaved the door handles and installed bear claw locks and remote openers from street works- despite the fact that the new rubber has been on for a couple of months it is still too stiff to allow the remotes to function- I have to leave the vent window open and reach inside to open using the door handle-BUMMER anyone had this problem and how did you solve it?
Have you tried opening the door then closing the latche and then using the remote? Just to make sure the remote is working.
Do you have door poppers? I had to add door poppers to mine before they would open even without rubber. For a test I just put them in the opening for the light switch that solved it. You would think in your case there would be enough pressure from the rubber to force them open.
I am using the small black ones also I will have a hidden button on the outside along with a manual cable release (just in case battery quits)
