Remote door locks keep locking!

2005 F250 6.0L with remote door locks..

When i push the button to unlock the doors the doors unlock like they are supposed to. OK-the problem..when i go to pull the door handle to open the door..they LOCK on me. So I have to use my key..stick it in the lock, keep it to the right then pull the door handle to open the door.

Anyone had this problem? How is it corrected?

I've disconncted the batteries to see if it would reset and that didn't do anything..

Have you tried resetting the remotes by disconnecting their batteries?

If you have tried to reset both...

Then try to go to a different location, say 5 miles away, to rule out EMF.

Do you know which system you have? Is it the OEM? Remote Start? Vehicle security system? Remote Key-less Entry or all of the above? Is it all doors locking on you or just the drivers door?

Just the factory installed remote controlled locks. I hit the button once to unlock the drivers door..go to pull on the handle to open it and it locks the door. I can even type in my remote access number on the key pad and it does the same thing.

Does it happen if you try the passenger side door? Or the rear doors, if you have them? Weird one you got there.

Maybe a stupid question, but are you sure its unlocking? Do you just have a weak lock motor?

This tells us it is not a flaky key FOB.

When it locks on the drivers side door, is it right when you pull out on the door handle? Or is it right when the door striker unlatches? If it is handle related, it might be a shorted wire around the keypad area. If it is when the door striker unlatches, it might have to do with the door switch.

Whatever it is, I think your first effort should be to reset all the computers with a battery disconnect.

I will definitely be watching for the solution to this one.

does it do it if you use the button inside to unlock it? (reach in through the open window)

what if you unlock the door with the keyfob with the door already open, then work the latch (with door still open)

I had a similar problem on my 2002 Expedition which I would bet used the same door remote system and after the dealer gouged me for 1200.00 $ he found rust was shorting out the keypad. The keypad was 150..00$ and 90.00$ labour . I now have a 2005 F350 SD diesel. To check the keypad, take the door panel off and pull the plug on the keypad. The door panel is easy to remove with some minor instructions.

I'm thinking 1 of two issues here..............

#1. Is it possible you have put it in valet mode?

#2. Bad relay for the drivers door priority unlock option.

Can you post a pic of the key fob? Need to know which system it is.

Try hitting unlock 2x, Is there an LED somewhere that blinks? If so what is the blinking pattern? Does the horn sound when unlocking?

i can stick the key in the lock and unlock the door..but even doing that if i grab the door handle it locks...The only way it will open is if i stick the key in turn it to the right then open the door then remove the key.

There are no lights or horn beeps. They key FOB has just unlock/lock and panic on it. I have the factory buttons on the door to press a 5 digit code to unlock. If i use that..the door still locks if i pull the handle to open.

I'll pull the door panel off and check connections for rust tomorrow.

Sounds like you're headed in the right direction then, relay would not cause that.

OK Now that is wierd. But I would still pull the panels and watch as the mechanisms work. Sounds like something is shorting when you pull the handle that is triggering the door lock. As for changing the diff fluid then working ok now, could be something moved just right to keep it from shorting agian...for now.
