What are 2 pipes from Catalytic Converter (1990 7.5L)

I cut out my Cat bc it seemed blocked and was trying to see if it was causing massive performance issues I had. It didn't But I did cut it out a bit hastily and now am considering whether to get a replacement Cat or straight pipe it. What I want to know is what do the two smaller pipes coming off the Cat do (there's one at forward end, one in middle.)? If I straight pipe it and abandon those two pipes what effect, if any, will it have on performance or the computer?

Also, what's best way to connect them back up if I do get a new Cat? Is there a repair hose I can get or does anyone know the replacement parts for the pipes?

Thanks!

Best I can find those come from the smog pump. They pump air into the cat to help it "light off" to burn up any excess HC.

Replacement hoses/pipes will probably have to be fabricated.
