Possible timing cover coolant leak
My truck has been leaking a small amount of coolant for some time. Just did the oil cooler again with a new front bracket. That seems to have slowed up the leak and area is still clean around the cooler. However the front driver side battery engine block ground is saturated in coolant. Maybe someone out there has seen this leak this before. Thanks
I'm not sure how much was disturbed while doing the cooler but from the pics it looks like the leak is coming from above. See how the grime is cleaned from the fuel line bracket.
Yes it does appear to leak from above with the hood open looking down i can see any signs of a leak.
Rigcity have you tried cleaning that area real good with some brake cleaner? Not sure what else would leak coolant in that area besides the oil cooler unless it's some how leaking from the upper coolant hose and snaking it's way down there. I have a extremely slow oil leak in the same area, have tried everything to no avail.
It almost looks like its blowing from the backside of where the oil cooler mates to the timing cover.....pic is too close tho. Cant see any dry areas....
Run a water hose over the area you suspect the leak and come back the next day. It will appear to be dried out because the coolant will be rinsed away.
Check your thermostat housing for a leak, very common for them to leak and draining on that location due to the fan blowing the coolant back of the engine
Haven’t had time for the full detail currently doing a water wash every morning and evening. Previously replaced the water pump outlet o ring changed the thermostat hosing for a billet part, and double clamped the hose. Sunday or Monday should have time to scrub her down.
